Mercy versus Kindness

Mercy is one word in the bible mostly emphasize on in the book of Psalms. For instance Psalms 107 verse 1 says "O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." 'Mercy endures forever' is a kind of  appreciation, magnification, and glorification of the Great LORD.

So, let's dive into the meaning and differences between mercy and kindness.

Meaning

Mercy (from my study) means the act of giving to someone from your riches, or abundance (merchandise). I think the word mercy is derived from the word merchandise. Romans 10:12 says that God is rich towards all. He is the one who supplies. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus said:"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

On the other side kindness is also the act of giving, but giving from your need or want (the little you possessed). Your kindness to others for God sake will determine how faithful you are to God.

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
 Luke 16:10.
